Frequently Asked Questions
- Does your clinic perform any other operations in order to improve the appearance of the female body?
What is the depth of the newly formed vagina?
The depth of the vagina is dependent upon the length of the penile skin. In order to get an idea of the depth one can approximate by measuring the limp penis pre-operatively. Moreover, the penile skin is very elastic, and once it is placed in the small pelvis, it can be stretched using either a dildo or by having sexual intercourse frequently.
Is a Clitoris formed and if so is it sensitive?
Utilizing microsurgery, a part of the glans penis is formed into a clitoris and placed accordingly. This neo-clitoris can be sensitive to sexual arousal.
Are multiple operations performed?
If the patient wishes to have other operations such as augmentation and reduction of the adam’s apple, they can be performed in the same sitting. This will nither lengthening the time of the operation nor increases the general operational risks.
Are there any second operations that are necessary, and if so, how many?
In approximately 30% of the cases and approximately 3-6 months after the first operation, it may be necessary to make some small corrections. For example, it might be necessary to perform a perineal incision in order avoid tautness that is caused by an invagination of the original penile skin. Moreover, if the patient wants to have the labia minora formed or the clitoris smaller, it is possible to perform this procedure in the same step.

What type of complications have you experienced, and how often have they been reported?
- Post-operative bleeding in approx. 1% of the cases
- Stenosis of the urethra in approx. 1-2% of the cases
- Stenosis of the neo-vagina in approx. 1% of the cases
How long does a patient have to stay in the clinic?

How long have you been performing these types of operations?
Dr. Daverio has performed these types of operations since 1980 and has been doing them in Potsdam under the supervision of Dr. Krueger since 1995.
How many operations have been successfully performed?
More than 400 cases have been performed.
When is sexual intercourse allowed?
We suggest sexual intercourse 6 weeks after the operation.
Where are the scars visible?
The only scars that might be visible are the ones that are on the labia majora. These are formed by the reduction of the scrotum. Since the hair growth continues after the operation, these scars are barely visible.
How long after the first surgery is an enlargement of the vagina possible? Do you use a so called Stent?
After the operation, a tampon is introduced into the neo-vagina which is removed after the 5th or 6th day post-operatively. On the 10th to 14th day, a small dildo may be introduced to stretch or enlarge the vagina. A stent is not necessary in this case.
Have there been any problems concerning sexual intercourse after the operation?
One has to take into consideration that the pelvis of the male is smaller than that of a biological female. Furthermore, the pelvic muscles are stronger than and not as elastic as the female muscles. These two factors have to be taken into account when having sexual intercourse. Stretching and relaxing the muscles of the pelvis will aid in sexual intercourse.
