Get a hip or knee replacement quickly – without months of waiting
At Klinik Sanssouci, same-day appointments and surgery dates are available in suitable cases – often within a few weeks.
Many people in Berlin and Brandenburg currently wait several months for a surgery appointment for a hip or knee replacement – even though pain, sleep disturbances, and limited mobility have long since come to define their daily lives.
At Klinik Sanssouci Potsdam, short-notice appointments and surgery dates are often available—in suitable cases, often within a few days or weeks.
Why are waiting periods so long in the region?
Large joint replacement centers and hospitals are operating at full capacity. Reasons for this include:
- Limited surgical capacity combined with high demand
- Prioritization of emergencies over elective procedures
- Staff shortages in nursing and surgical teams
This results in waiting times that can sometimes last several months—even in cases with clear medical indications, such as advanced osteoarthritis, severe pain at rest, or a significant limitation in walking ability.
How We Work
Klinik Sanssouci performs only elective procedures—no emergency care. This ensures structure, reliability, and available capacity. In addition, we perform scheduled surgeries on weekdays until 9:00 p.m. and on select Saturdays throughout the year, so that we can help our patients as quickly as possible and alleviate their suffering.
With over 1,000 joint replacement surgeries per year, hip and knee replacements are among the clinic’s core areas of focus. Treatment is primarily provided by experienced affiliated physicians specializing in joint replacement.
Your first step: A consultation with Dr. Kai Junghans
The central point of contact is the consultation with our Medical Director, Dr. med. Kai Junghans, a certified specialist in orthopedics and trauma surgery with over 20 years of experience and a specialization in joint replacement.
Dr. Junghans offers consultation appointments with the goal of quickly scheduling a surgery date if surgery is indicated.
During the initial consultation, we will discuss the following together:
- Is there a clear medical indication for a hip or knee replacement?
- When is the most appropriate time, both medically and personally?
- Which type of prosthesis is right for your situation?
Following this, we proceed with concrete surgical planning—as targeted and as quickly as possible. We benefit from the fact that we are not constrained by emergency room demands, allowing us to plan better and more efficiently for our patients.
The Full Range of Joint Replacement Surgery
We treat, among other conditions:
- Hip replacements (total hip replacement)
- Knee replacements (total knee arthroplasty)
- Partial replacements (e.g., sliding prostheses)
- Revision surgeries for implant failure or loosening
- Custom prostheses for complex anatomical conditions
Each treatment plan is tailored to your individual needs—based on your imaging results, your anatomy, and your daily activity requirements.
Also for patients with public health insurance
If you have public health insurance in Germany, you can receive treatment at our clinic. In certain cases, your health insurance provider may cover the costs of treatment at our private clinic—provided that the medical necessity is documented.
We will provide you with transparent and personalized information about this during your initial consultation.
Your Path to Treatment
