Privately insured patients
You can be admitted as a patient at Klinik Sanssouci Potsdam if you have private health insurance or are entitled to benefits. Your surgeon is principally working as a freelance attending physician at our clinic and is therefore not employed at Klinik Sanssouci. The anesthesiology specialists, on the other hand, are employed physicians of the clinic.
The charges for your treatment are as follows:
- Your surgeon will invoice you for his surgical services as an affiliated physician in accordance with the official fee schedule for physicians. Please submit this invoice to your insurance company and, if applicable, to the subsidy office for reimbursement.
- Klinik Sanssouci bills for inpatient clinical services (general hospital services) on the basis of the so-called aG-DRG flat rate per case and nursing revenue system, which is recognized throughout Germany. This means that a flat rate per case (aG-DRG) and nursing charges per day of occupancy are billed for inpatient clinical services (including the costs of room and board, clinic staff, implants, materials, operating rooms, etc.). The flat rate per case also includes all medical services provided by the clinic’s anesthesiologists and assistant physicians, since they are permanently employed by the clinic. The flat rate per case is determined by multiplying the hospital-specific prime rate by the relative weight of the aG-DRG flat rate per case and nursing revenue catalog valid at the time. The per-case flat rate as well as the nursing charges are either billed directly to your insurance company, or you receive an invoice which you submit to your private health insurance company or allowance office for reimbursement.
- If you wish to be accommodated in a single or double room, optional service surcharges will be applied for this (see hospital rates), which, depending on your insurance status, will either be paid by your insurance company or have to be borne by you.
- If you wish to have the treatment of the chief physician in anesthesia (employed chief physician Wilfried Sießbüttel) as an optional medical service, you will be invoiced by the clinic in accordance with the official scale of fees for physicians, which must then also be paid by your insurance company or by yourself, depending on the tariff.
The hospital-specific prime rate and the nursing charge value as well as the optional service surcharges are displayed and filed with the Association of Private Health Insurers (PKV-Verband).
